Covid-19 Update

Relax in one of our beautiful holiday apartments – your home away from home.

We can’t wait to welcome you.

We don’t know how hospitality and tourism will look after lockdown, and we know that a holiday at our apartments goes hand in hand with the wonderful restaurants, pubs and shops of Aberystwyth.

Usually, our beautiful seaside town would be a hive of activity, our seafront alive with holidaymakers enjoying a break and locals making the most of the warm spring weather.

Instead, the hustle and bustle has been replaced by birdsong, and our wide Victorian promenade is all but deserted, despite the good weather.

Yet there is one thing that hasn’t changed and that’s the fabulous community spirit in our friendly Welsh town

If you are thinking about booking, please use our website for the best available rates www.awel-mor.co.uk and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions

Many businesses are doing a great job with new delivery and “click and collect” services.

So, we hope that when we are allowed to re-open for business that our guests can still relax and have a well-deserved break from cooking and chores. We would be happy to help you arrange for a hamper of groceries to be delivered for your stay.

Meanwhile, we love to champion local businesses, so we thought we’d put together a list of our favourite producers, shops and restaurants who have found new and inventive ways to stay open and keep serving our community.

Some only deliver locally, but some, you’ll be pleased to hear, deliver throughout the country so you can have a bit of FAberystwyth hospitality wherever you are.

We’re currently using our luxury seafront accommodation to support keyworkers who have to stay apart from their loved ones during the crisis; but we look forward to welcoming you with open arms once it is safe for us to do so.

Until then, stay at home and stay safe.

Rhiannon, Gareth and Christine

Winter News

It’s so hard to choose our favourite time of year in FABerystwyth. Each season brings with it something special. Now the clocks have turned back, and the mornings are a little chillier, it’s the perfect excuse to treat yourself to a cosy stay in one of our luxurious seafront holiday apartments.

Our latest newsletter shares with you just a few of the fabulous things we’re looking forward to this season: 5 Reasons to Stay with Awel Môr this Winter.

Craft Fair and Shows

Our ‘National Flagship for the Arts’ is pulling out all the stops this Winter. Something different is happening each week; November sees Sir Ranulph Fiennes drop in as part of his Living Dangerously UK Tour.
Bjorn Again get the party started in December; before Shane Williams shares some rugby secrets in January.

All this plus plenty of local and Welsh language talent and, of course, this years’ Panto – Peter Pan.

For a perfect way to spend an afternoon, why not visit the Art Centre’s Christmas Craft Fair? More than 80 craft suppliers from all over Ceredigion and Wales showcase their artisan produce, offering unique gifts perfect for your loved ones (and maybe a treat or two for yourself!)

Murmurations at the Pier

50,000 starlings come to visit Aberystwyth each year, and people come from all over the country to witness one of their world-famous murmurations.

We’ll let you in on a secret – Awel Môr’s seafront accommodation is the perfect place to watch their mesmerizing twists and tumbles against the setting sun – right from the warmth of your living room.

They arrive at the end of October and leave around March and you can see (and hear them) each evening under the Royal Pier!

Steam Train Adventure

Aberystwyth’s Victorian narrow-gauge railway is a delight to visit any time of year, but as the leaves change colour and begin to fall, a whole new landscape appears.

Learn about the legends as the steam train chugs its way through the Cambrian Mountains to Devil’s Bridge – said to be the last place the Devil visited in Wales.

Take a walk to the waterfalls and bridges celebrated by William Wordsworth.

The little station shops are worth a visit alone – they specialise in railway books; railway-inspired garden gifts; train sets plus gifts and crafts from all over Wales.

December 7th – January 3rd 2020

Following a phenomenal inaugural year, the Winter Wonderland and Ice Rink return to Aberystwyth castle again for 2019.

There will be a small funfair and a traditional German market with an extra local food and gift fair each weekend. All in and around Aberystwyth’s landmark medieval castle ruins.

Advancing Aberystwyth – who run the event, have plenty of festive fun arranged for this season, including drive-in cinema evenings and a traditional lantern parade before the switching on of our Christmas lights in the town centre.
